Taragüi is the first Argentine yerba mate without anthraquinone
Taragüi is the first Argentine yerba mate certified free of anthraquinone, a substance used as a pesticide that can form during drying. Thanks to its controlled and sustainable production process, Taragüi meets high European food safety standards, guaranteeing pure and healthy yerba mate.

Taragüi's rigorous Yerba Mate production process, as well as its commitment to meeting the highest quality standards, guarantees food safety and an anthraquinone-free product. This was the verdict after the prestigious Eurofins laboratory in Germany detected no agrochemicals in Las Marías yerba mate.
What is anthraquinone?
Anthraquinone is a substance often used for pesticide purposes, although in the case of yerba mate, it can form naturally during the drying process or through the oxidation of anthracene present in yerba mate.
Up to date with European quality standards
In Europe, where yerba mate consumption is on the rise, there are high food safety standards and limits set by the European Economic Community regarding the use of pesticides and substances harmful to health. Imported food products undergo rigorous health testing.
Taragui products meet all the conditions set by the European Economic Community and are sold primarily in health food stores and organic markets in Europe.
On Las Marías farms, organic products are used instead of pesticides and agrochemicals, and specialized technology allows air to be exchanged during the drying process and low-humidity wood is used for cleaner, healthier yerba mate.

World leader in yerba mate
For both Argentina and Europe, Las Marías has developed cutting-edge technology to process tons of yerba mate with rigorous sustainability and food safety criteria, adding HACCP, BPM, FSC and RAS certifications.
Today, it is the world's largest producer of the so-called "drink of the gods," through its brands Taragüi, Unión, La Merced, and Mañanita. With this certification, it becomes the first Argentine yerba mate brand to successfully meet all the requirements established by the European Economic Community and be officially anthraquinone-free.
Present in more than 40 locations around the world, Las Marías yerba mate is produced locally through meticulous selection processes, with every stage supervised by experts.
